The eloquent silence of the body

There are millions of countries, millions of nations, millions of cultures in the world. There are not only the official languages of certain countries, there also dialects and patois of the different tribes and folks. Every language that exists in the world has its own peculiarities. Some languages are understandable for a number of people in the world, and not only for those who live in the country. And there are languages that are understandable only for representatives of a certain country and sounds senseless for other people. That depends on international status of the country and many other factors. Still, there are two languages that are general for all countries, nations and cultures. Those are the language of love and the body language.

Let's leave aside the language of love and talk about the language of the body, as among those two languages this is the language of a great interest. Sure, the body language is general for all the people in the world but it has its peculiarities that are common for one nation and senseless for another. Actually, from the point of view of psychologists there are gestures and poses of the body that are general for all people, no matter on the nation and the culture they belong to. Still, there are the gestures that may have positive meaning and contain friendly message for one culture and be considered as an extremely aggressive by representatives of another culture.

The body language is rather universal and much more verbose that common language we use in our everyday life. It is rather interesting fact as according to linguistic division the body language belongs to the type of the languages of non-verbal communication. Linguistic is a science about languages, about their nature, development and usage. Linguistic deals with studying of the nature of the language and all its means and peculiarities.

According to linguistic' rules and norms all possible and known means of communication are divided into two main groups. Those groups are the means of verbal and non-verbal communication. The term "means of verbal communication" includes all means of communication that demand oral pronunciation of words, no matter on the type of the language they belong to. The term "means of non-verbal communication" implies the "silent" speech.

Those means of communication are the writing, signalling, anything that hands over the information from one person to another without oral usage of words. The most interesting and amusing means of non-verbal communication is the body language. As talking or writing we are thinking over what we say or write, but the body language is an uncontrolled language and is able to tell much more information then we are, and that information will be true and candour. It is so, as the body language is the language of our subconsciousness which hides nothing and shows all our inner worries and feelings. If you are skilful at body language you are able to read one's mind during the conversation and you are provided with an ability to find out what are the real feelings and thoughts of your opponent.
